Bishop Justus CoE School

Physical Education

Physical Education and sport play a vital part in life at Bishop Justus where students develop not only their physical/tactical literacy in a variety of activities, but with a focus on developing their psychological wellbeing (resilience/determination) and social competency (teamwork/leadership). We are proud to promote a ‘Sport for All’ ethos through broad, enjoyable, balanced and inclusive concept focused curriculum, both in lessons and at co-curricular clubs. Our curriculum aims to provide our students with the physical literacy to experience and excel at a wide variety of competitive and physically demanding activities, where students are able to demonstrate resilience and teamwork and build confidence. This combined with a clear emphasis on knowledge acquisition and the aims to build a life-long love of health, fitness and wellbeing through participation in physical activity. We promote leadership, self-esteem and a ‘never give up attitude’ through developing our students physical, emotional and social confidence and embed values such as fairness, teamwork and respect, along with the ‘why’ behind PE.
