Welcome Class of 2025!
Congratulations on securing your place at Bishop Justus Church of England School. Here you can find useful information to help you in your transition from primary to secondary education and the things you need to know before you arrive in September.
Welcome from the Headteacher
Dear new Year 7 Students,
It is with great joy and excitement that I welcome you to Bishop Justus Church of England School. As you begin this new chapter of your education journey, know that you are joining a school community that values belonging, academic success, and personal growth.
At Bishop Justus, we are guided by the virtues of hope, love, faith, wisdom, courage, and kindness. These virtues shape everything we do and help us to grow as individuals and as a community. As you embark on this journey, I encourage you to approach each day with hope, knowing that every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Show love and kindness to those around you, build faith in yourself and in others, seek wisdom in your learning, and have the courage to try new things and stand up for what is right.
A verse that reflects our school’s spirit is:
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope." – Jeremiah 29:11
You are now part of a caring and supportive community where you will be encouraged to develop your talents, pursue your passions, and strive for excellence. We are here to support you every step of the way, and we cannot wait to see all that you will achieve.
Welcome to Bishop Justus – where we expect you to have success through, faith, love and learning

The 3 C's
Chance | Choice | Consequence |
We all have moments where we can do better. You'll be given a chance to do the right thing and directed to act with wisdom and kindness (e.g. work quietly or listen to instructions). Show courage by making the right choices when it matters. | Every day, you have the power to choose. Your teacher will give you an opportunity to make a wise decision rooted in love for yourself and others. Show faith in yourself and your community by choosing actions that bring hope and positivity. | If you make a poor choice, there will be a consequence (workshop, contacting home, etc.). This isn't just a punishment - it's an opportunity to learn, grow in wisdom and practice courage in the face of challenges. Be hopeful and wise - learn from this so that next time you show your virtues. |
We hold a Freshers Fair for our new students joining the school so that they can see the fantastic range of extra curricular clubs on offer, ask questions and even try out some activities!
Students use Satchel One (Show My Homework) to access the homework tasks set by teachers.
Chaplaincy and Worship at Bishop Justus
Recognising the soul, meeting the heart, empowering the mind.Reverend Shavaun, our school chaplain, leads the Chaplaincy.
Our Chaplaincy department at Bishop Justus is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming community where our Christian ethos guides daily worship and pastoral care as a Church of England school.
Our school worship is informed by the six Christian virtues: faith, love, wisdom, hope, courage, and kindness. It occurs across the tutor and year groups every morning. With an emphasis on reflection and exploration, our students are encouraged and empowered to share their perspectives and curiosities. We embrace diversity, encourage open dialogue, and support all students' spiritual welfare, regardless of their faith or background.
With moments of stillness and pause, our worship gives space to consider the wider society and our local community while embracing a journey of being together in the fullness of who we are in the learning environment. Students are involved in worship, and it is their choice to do so. The experience provides a platform to develop their voices and leadership skills while leading their peers.
We have a dedicated school chapel, a spacious, refreshing area with plants that enhance the experience of pause, prayer, and lunchtime activities in this reflective and sacred space overlooking our school grounds.
The Bishop Justus Family Prayer Sessions
We value and cherish our school community and hold weekly family prayer sessions on Zoom that last up to 30 minutes.
We invite all parents and caregivers of our students to attend. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect informally in a reflective space.
Every week, a reflection is focused on our Christian ethos, and you are welcome to share your thoughts. However, contributing is not expected; being present is valuable as it offers time for personal reflection and fosters our sense of community. Everyone is welcome to join and can leave whenever they need to.
Email invitations are sent out in advance of each meeting. These sessions are a blessing and continue to be a supportive aspect of our school family life. As parents and caregivers of our new Year 7 students, you are welcome to join us starting in September.
We look forward to you joining our school community and sharing in moments of reflection and togetherness.
Every Blessing,
Reverend Shavaun
